Fue toda una sorpresa dentro del mundo del cómic que uno de los sindicatos más venerables y respetados confiara a uno de sus personajes más a…mados y más icónicos a un dibujante cuyo personaje mejor conocido era un misántropo depravado y de mal carácter llamado Dirty Duck y en cuyo currículum figurase la revista Playboy y el National Lampoon (revista satírica que London contribuyó a fundar) además de haber sido uno de los Air Pirates (un grupo de dibujantes underground famoso por publicar una parodia no autorizada para adultos protagonizada por Mickey Mouse, que acabó en un juicio con la Disney que duró una década. ) Aunque pareciera una decisión poco acertada no se puede negar el talento de London ni su amor y conocimientos de las tiras cómicas clásicas. Fue toda una sorpresa dentro del mundo del cómic que uno de los sindicatos más venerables y respetados confiara a uno de sus personajes más a…mados y más icónicos a un dibujante cuyo personaje mejor conocido era un misántropo depravado y de mal carácter llamado Dirty Duck y en cuyo currículum figurase la revista Playboy y el National Lampoon (revista satírica que London contribuyó a fundar) además de haber sido uno de los Air Pirates (un grupo de dibujantes underground famoso por publicar una parodia no autorizada para adultos protagonizada por Mickey Mouse, que acabó en un juicio con la Disney que duró una década. ) Aunque pareciera una decisión poco acertada no se puede negar el talento de London ni su amor y conocimientos de las tiras cómicas clásicas. Para todos aquellos que conocían la trayectoria de Popeye, la elección de London como su nuevo dibujante resultaba la más obvia.
