Original hardbound book has dark green cloth with No DJ. Formally had gilt lettering to both front and spine, only spine gilt remains. Spine and edge wear, bumped corners and a few tiny breaks to cloth at top and bottom of spine, and corners. The papers here are of high quality but do show some discoloration, and we have what appears to be a bit of an (India type) ink spill. It is very light residue and does not obscure any of the wording in any area. It's very light spots only to the top edges on pages 14 to 23, on pg. 26 (a dogeared page) we have the main spill, with a tiny tear to bottom edge. The ink itself was cleaned off, so residue to the top quadrant only, with some light splashing onto page 27 which is also wrinkled - likely from the clean-up. and a few light spots on page 29. Front end papers feature a black and white photo of Louis Pasteur on the Frontispiece. Copyright page also has a list of other publications by Colton. In addition we have the preface, Contents fully numbered with explanations by chapter, many drawn illustrations with some charts and graphs as well, Appendix, and index. It is a good, tightly bound copy, just showing it's age. I like to have accurate descriptions, so one knows what they are purchasing. (and I cannot figure out how to get a photo onto Abe :).…
