Second edition (as stated upon title page). 354 pages. Hardcover: H 17.5cm x L 11cm. Original full leather binding; boards rubbed with corners worn, small gouge near center of front board, spine ends and joints scuffed with small chip at heel of front joint, spine decorated with thin horizontal bars and retains crinkled black title label which still has bright gilt lettering. Some browning and old ink marks to endpapers; moderate to occasionally strong toning and foxing upon interior leaves. Frontispiece woodblock illustration; three other woodblock illustrations amongst text all on unpaged leaves opposite pages 158, 200, and 260. Binding remains firm. A very good- antiquarian copy. The first edition of THE COLUMBIAN CLASS BOOK was published in 1824 and Lowe soon followed it with another reader titled SECOND CLASS BOOK which was first printed in 1825.
