The book was published by Rand McNally & Company in 1960 and does appear to be a First Edition though it is not specifically stated as such. It is/was a Weekly Reader Children's Book Club Edition in 1961. The price on the dust jacket flap is $2.75. It is 7 1/4" by 91/4" and has about 40 pages with two-color, three-color and four-color illustrations throughout. It is NOT an ex-library book and while the book is in very good condition (though the pages are beginning to yellow) but the dust jacket is in only good condition. "We think of it as a book that will give children a first look into the microcosm that is around them, into a world full of marvelously wrought details like the great springs in the hind legs of the grasshopper." (This was Cecil Lubell's first book.) Thank you!
