Essa nasce dall'iniziativa di una parte del gruppo fondatore dell'omonima rivista, con il concorso di altri studiosi italiani e stranieri, e ne vuole continuare il lavoro di ricerca e dibattito con la stessa politica culturale e gli stessi obiettivi. La ricca esperienza maturata insieme al gruppo penalistico dell'Università di Bologna è un patrimonio comune che alimenta tanto questa nuova iniziativa quanto quelle che tale gruppo prenderà autonomamente. Nell'affermare la continuità del lavoro di questa rivista rispetto al cammino percorso con le sette annate de «La Questione criminale» si deve tener conto non solo delle esperienze positive finora fatte, ma anche delle difficoltà e dei cambiamenti che si sono verificati in questi anni. Tre erano i punti salienti del programma delineato nel primo editoriale di quella rivista: la costruzione di una criminologia critica; la ricerca dei principi di una politica criminale alternativa; la definizione di un nuovo modello integrato di scienza penalistica. 1.
