Dark blue cloth with very-bright and unrubbed gilt-stamped Hodag on front cover and strong gilt spine titles. 158pp. Each page has a wide bottom margin with light green illustration of a Hodag in the woods imprinted on he bottom. From the Introduction, "This little book, a mixture of poetry and prose, has not been written with any idea of trying to create a literary gem, ." Nonetheless, this book is a source book for the lore of the Hodag and logging in the Northwoods of Wisconsin and centering on Rhinelander's Eugene Shepard creation of the Hodag practical joke become legend. On the ffep is affixed a silver label 2" x 2 3/8" imprinted, "Compliments of / DEMOCRAT PRINTING / COMPANY . CHRISTMAS / 1932." Just a trace of wear at the corners. A fine copy. No dj. Very scarce.
