Otherwise a tight book with no other marks or stamps. The author, then a schoolgirl aged fifteen, subfmitted her story, Jean's Black Diamond, for the CSSM Literature Compoetition in 1947. The judges awarded her second prize, and were impressed witeh the promise of this young writer. This is a story in 20 chapters about ranching in Australia and the love of a young girl for a wild mare.
