Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: New. Contemporary Irish Documentary Theatre is the first anthology of Irish documentary drama. It features five challenging plays by Irish writers, and one by an international author, interrogating and commenting on crucial events of Irish history and of the diaspora, with introductory essays by established academics. Together these plays represent the most innovative development in contemporary Irish theatre and illuminate the social and political realities of contemporary Ireland. The first two plays, of 2010 and 2013, deal with scandals of clerical and institutional abuse, and use as source material the Ryan Report of 2009, and the documents from the 2008 Irish Bank Guarantee. The next two, of 2014 and 2013, concern interpretations of the most iconic moment of Irish history: the Easter Rising. The first of these is based on published statements of participants in the event and the second on the lived experiences of those in the contemporary Republic whose founding ideals have not been realized . The last two plays, of 2015 and 2016, widen the view to the history of the Irish in the diaspora: one retelling the history of emigration to England based on published research material; and the other tracing Roger Casement's experiences in the Amazon and his subsequent participation in the Easter Rising using extracts from his diaries and other writings. The plays included and discussed are: No Escape by Mary Raftery Guaranteed by Colin Murphy Of This Brave Time by Jimmy Murphy History by Grace Dyas My English Tongue, My Irish Heart by Martin Lynch The Two Deaths of Roger Casement by Domingos Nunez.

Jerry Cuomo's unique story-telling style along with accompanying illustrations makes it a breeze to be an A+ student in his virtual blockchain class. "Think Blockchain" provides an entertaining and balanced education of blockchain's evolution from Bitcoin, Ethereum, Hyperledger, to the foundation of our Web3 future."Think Blockchain" combines both an aspirational and pragmatic overview of blockchain technology, its core capabilities, and the value they generate from a technical and business perspective. It describes various real-world examples, implementations, and approaches, with industry-specific and cross-industry use cases.Developers will benefit from this book as several of the chapters are technical in nature, some even including simple coding exercises to further crystalize topics like blocks, chains, hashing, mining, smart contracts, and tokens.Business leaders will equally benefit and are provided with a basis for understanding and evaluating how blockchain technology can transform their organization and business processes. Cuomo encourages business leaders to look over the simple coding examples. They won't bite and might better illustrate what makes blockchain tick.Business or technical, the topics covered in this book will prove valuable to just about anyone curious and ready to become a scholar of blockchain. Includes stories by Franklin Marsh, Andrew Darlington, Stephen Bacon, Gary Fry, Benedict J. Jones, Kate Farrell, Charles Black, David A. Sutton, Walter Gascoigne, Mark Patrick Lynch, Adrian Cole, Shaun Avery, Jay Eales, Craig Herbertson, Tim Major, M. J. Wesolowski, and David Turnbull. "Coined in the 1950s, Kitchen Sink described British films, plays and novels frequently set in the North of England, which showed working class life in a gritty, no-nonsense, "warts and all" style, sometimes referred to as social realism. It became popular after the playwright John Osborne wrote Look Back In Anger, simultaneously helping to create the Angry Young Men movement. Films included Saturday Night and Sunday Morning, The Entertainer, A Taste of Honey, The L-Shaped Room and The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner. TV dramas included Coronation Street and East Enders. In recent years TV dramas that could rightly be described as kitchen sink gothic include Being Human, with its cast of working class vampires, werewolves and ghosts, and the zombie drama In the Flesh, with its northern working class, down to earth setting. In this anthology you will find stories that cover a wide range of Kitchen Sink Gothic, from the darkly humorous to the weirdly strange and occasionally horrific." Size: 9" x 6". Book.
