Flexible leather. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Fair. Lois L. Lenski (illustratore). 1st Edition. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. DJ shows the date code of 30-08 on the front flap. Jacket is toned and scuffed, with numerous chips and tears (some of which measures several inches). Red cloth boards underneath are clean and the illustration strong. The only issue with the boards is some rubbing and bumping to the edges and corners. This is an ex library copy with the front pastedown and end page stamped stating Highlands School in Wilmington Delaware. There is also a faint stamp on the front of the dust jacket. The only other library markings found is also on the front pastedown, which contains a record of book loans to students, which was never filled out. The remaining unpaginated pages are unmarked and unaffected, including the rear pastedown. The "Never Grow Old Series" listing on the 2nd end page lists Lil' Hannibal as the last title, making this a bit of a non-standard variant. No trademark word appears on the front DJ (lower left) but the book copyright page shows only MCMXXX.

Platt & Munk Co., No. 358 Retold by Watty Piper 2 (both) are First Edition, First printing 'A' variants, 1930. According to expert Stan Zielinski in his website on collecting childrens books. The third copy is a 3rd edition with no copyright statement to the front pastedown and 'Lil Hannibal' in the title list. Printed around 1938 and in lovely and bright condition without the dust wrapper. CONDITION NOTES: Hardcovers. Both are nearly identical First editions and this title last on the list 'Never Grow Old Series' verso of the front fep. ) printed the same year. A dust wrapper is present (with one book only) and in very good (unclipped) condition which also matches the copyright statement on the pastedown front cover. Uncommon in such very nice condition and very attractive on the display shelf. The better one in Near Fine(NF), the other with the name & date on the front fep is Very Good (VG). The last example is in red bds (without the pastedown FC) in blue inked illustrated titles, small ink owner name upper front ep, (sme colored ep's as all the others) and fine color illustrations throughout. I have designated this a reading copy in case you have children or grand (Great-grand!) children to whom you can read this to. No child should grow up without it. NOTE: It has taken me over 20 years to find and collect all 3 of these copies. I hope they will find a good home(s) and be enjoyed for generations to come.
