THERE IS WEAR AND SQUASHING TO THE SPINE, AND WEAR AND BUMPING TO THE SPINE ENDS AND CORNERS. AND A TINY SPLIT TO THE TOP OF THE SPINE. NONETHELESS THE SPINE AND PAGE BLOCK REMAIN TIGHT AND FIRM. Pering Book has buff illustrated boards and plain endpapers . There is a gift inscription and previous owner name to front endpaper. The text block is clean and unmarked. The pictures are fresh and bright. Extremely minor wear to the spine ends of the jacket and a couple of small marks to the front (not on text or illustration). Ladybird series 401. Buff boards with colour vignette and titles. Story told in verse, colour illustrations throughout. Jacket and book are both very good Date not stated but the rear jacket shows Five Little Kittens which was first published in 1955. First edition of The Green Umbrella was published in 1950. The book has a closed black and white ladybird facing the title page so this copy is at least 1961 and before 1965 when a coloured ladybird device appeared. Although this is a later reprint, its condition makes it an attractive acquisition.
