En 1840, dans un contexte de tensions internationales au sujet de l?Egypte, Louis-Philippe et son premier ministre Adolphe Thiers décident de fait ériger une ceintur…e fortifiée devant Paris. Dans cette plaquette, le général Pelet (1777-1858), vétéran des campagnes napoléoniennes, prend parti en faveur de la loi votée en avril 1841 concernant le projet de fortification de la capitale. Pelet y soutient le choix opéré en faveur d'un système de défense mixte : c'est-à-dire une enceinte continue alliée à des forts avancés. Large carte de France gravée sur papier fort (54 x 70), "indiquant les rapports de Paris avec l'intérieur du Royaume et avec les divers points de la frontière". Bel exemplaire sous couverture imprimée d'éditeur. Mareuse, 1643.
