Staying with the older books about Italy, I am pleased to offer this well illustrated guide to Florence. This small hard cover book is, by my definition, a treasure itself. How would you like t…o tour Firenze with a hundred-year-old guide book? The book measures 4 ½ x 6 ¾ inches and includes 410 pages published by Methuen & Co. Ltd. of London dated 1927 and the Second Edition. It is bound in textured maroon cloth boards with embossed titles and decorations on the cover and gilt titles on the spine. There are 47 illustrations and 6 maps and plans, two of which are family genealogies of the Medici and Lorraine pedigrees. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The hard covers are perhaps a bit dust-dulled and the spine slightly faded although the gilt titles are still legible. Inside, there are some lightly penciled bookseller s notes on the first blank page but those are the only marks I found in the book. The interior pages are amazingly clean and bright throughout, without toning or foxing. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight, sound and square. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
