Ermöglicht wurde der Bau durch die Entwicklung von neuen Verbindungs- und Verfahrenstechniken für Bambus. Erstmalig konnte so auch eine Genehmigung für einen Bambusbau in China gewonnen werden. Der umweltfreundliche hightech Pavillon wird als Kunst- und Ausstellungsraum dienen. Ausführlich dokumentiert der Band in Bild und Text die Planung und Realisierung des Pavillons und zeigt die Ideologie, die in dessen Architektur steckt. Weitere Beiträge behandeln sowohl allgemein den Rohstoff Bambus als auch Architektur und Design mittels Bambus. Ein eigenes Kapitel beschäftigt sich mit den weiteren Kunstbauten und begehbaren Installationen von Markus Heinsdorff.
