The glassine paper is present over the covers (this glassine shows light, age-related tanning, chipping to the spine ends of the glassine; the glassine is not shown in the scan). Most of the top-edges of the pages are unopened. A fine copy. This is a very scarce artist's book, of which there was only a single printing (1946). Philippe Soupault was a major French Surrealist poet, and Andre Masson was influenced by Surrealism. "The Artist and the Book 1860-1960" (pp. 133-135), gives these references for books illustrated by Masson: Albertina, Andre Masson Graphik catalogue (to 1958); Leiris and Limbour (to 1947); Mornand-Thome p. 304 (to 1949).
