Wolfe, who asked them to write about home, friends and family, the war or whatever came into their minds. THe results were so moving and impressive that Wolfe had 2,000 copies printed at his own expense, while all the profits from Doubleday's edition went directly to the men ; "We cannot state too emphatically that this books is presented not as a literary effort but as a series of social documents."--foreword ; "If a foreigner should ask me what Americans were like in 1946, I would hand him this book. Naturally it is not the whole story. It is only the story of a fairly small group of young men among those most hurt in body and mind by the accidents of war. But somehow, putting down the war experiences that affected them most, these young men have uncovered a much larger segment of the reality of our time than they themselves seem to have been aware of."--John Dos Passos ; details of each serviceman and his unit included ; authors include: Joe V. Manoscritto / Collezionismo cartaceo
Final draft script for the 1982 film, with annotations in manuscript ink striking dialogue on three pages. A cocaine fueled spoof of Robert Louis Stevenson's 1886 novella, "Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde," that could have only been made in the early 1980s. With tag lines like, "They told Dr. Jekyll to take his amazing scientific discovery and shove it up his nose. So he did." and "The comedy that examines modern living through chemistry," one has a good idea what to expect. The film allows Mark Blankfield, of the sketch comedy television show "Fridays," free range for a completely over-the-top performance as the shy, timid Dr. Jekyll and the mustachioed, gold-toothed, hairy chested party-animal Mr. Hyde, and, aptly, closes with a shot of Robert Louis Stevenson spinning in his grave. Tan titled Paramount wrappers, noted as FINAL DRAFT on the front wrapper, dated March 31, 1981. Title page present, dated March 31, 1981, noted as FINAL DRAFT, with credits for screenwriters Jerry Belson, Michael Leeson, Monica Johnson and Harvey Miller, with a "DUPLICATED BY PARAMOUNT PRINT SHOP" stamp on lower right corner. 112 leaves, with last page of text numbered 104. Xerographic duplication, rectos only. Pages Near FIne, wrapper Near Fine, bound with two gold brads. Carlson and Connolly, Destroy All Movies. Olive Films #1263.

Condizione: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - From the time it was separated from Providence in 1759, Johnston has grown from a sleepy, rural town to a busy urban center with more than 30,000 residents and a diversified economy. Much of this growth took place between the mid-nineteenth and mid-twentieth centuries, and it is this period that Louis McGowan and the Johnston Historical Society chronicle in this delightful book. McGowan and the historical society have assembled more than 200 wonderful images from their archives and the private collections of many Johnston residents. The result is a multi-faceted portrait of the town's citizens, landmarks, and historical figures. Some of the famous figures discussed include Charles Fletcher, who built or managed the three largest textile mills in Johnston; the Reverend Samuel Winsor, founder of the Six Principle Baptist congregation; James F. Simmons, the sole U.S. Senator from the town, who was forced to resign his position in disgrace; and Zenas R. Bliss, winner of the Congressional Medal of Honor and a distinguished U.S. Army officer.
