Part of the "Eclectic Educational Series "/ "Revised Stereotype Edition"; 224 p., clean and unmarked except for former owner's name, somewhat smeared, and 1862 date; remarkably strong paper is age-toned and foxed; binding is firm with rather worn leather spine with gilt lines but any writing has been effaced; l…ight orange boardsare much scuffed at edges and very faded but wblack writing is still legible; binding is firm; what really keeps this still interesting little rarity with its truly delightful woodcut illustrations from been "good" is that there are water marks on the first few pages and on the last pages in back as well as the back board--the back end pages are also dog-eared and there is a small open tear on the fly leaf.
