Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This text is a detailed report on the Massachusetts Commission on Mental Diseases (MCMD), the first annual of its kind since the 1916 abolition of the State Board of Insanity. As such, the report and its data provide vital information and statistics on the state of mental health services, mental illness, mental deficiency, and epilepsy in Massachusetts at the time of its publication. The text begins with a breakdown of the various roles and personnel within the Commission, including the Director, associate members, and various investigators and agents. This is followed by a table of contents, followed by a foreword signed by the Director and members of the Commission. The remainder of the text is divided into several main sections, each covering a different aspect or project related to the Commission's work. The first section details the reorganization and changes in mandate brought about by the abolishment of the State Board of Insanity and the establishment of the MCMD. It documents the various relevant acts and legislative changes, and explores the resulting shift in supervisory responsibilities for various state institutions. The second, and largest, section provides an in-depth statistical review of the state of mental health in Massachusetts at the time of the report. This includes detailed accounting of the prevalence of various mental health conditions within the state, including charts and tables detailing gender, age, and other demographic information for patients. The section concludes with a report on facilities for the care and treatment of individuals with mental health conditions, including data on staffing and funding.
