I have a number of Geological Survey Professional Papers that examine what happened as a result of the March 27, 1964 Earthquake that hit Alaska. This will be another of them: Paper 542-C- "Effects of the Earthquake of March 27, 1964 at Valdez, Alaska, by Henry W. Coulte…r and Ralph R. Migliaccio. This book offers: "A description of the massive landslides, destructive sea waves, landmass displacements, and extensive ground breakage due to the earthquake at Valdez." It was published by the United States Government Printing Office in Washington, D.C. dated 1965. Please see the photos of the Table of Contents which also lists the illustrations-- plates, figures and tables. The two maps and the log of borings mentioned in the list of plates are indeed contained in a pocket on the rear endpaper. Unlike some of the other Geological Survey Professional Papers that I am offering, this one was not bound in a library-like binding for an exploration services. Condition: This soft cover book is in very good condition. There is some very light edge wear to the soft covers to which have also been afixed a shelf number with common tape. The card pocket on the rear cover has been stamped with the name of the mining exploration company in question. The card is not present. The stapled binding seems tight but there is some wear to the bound edge of the book. several (illustratore).
