M P Regmi, Sept 11, 1994"; in the table of contents entry for chapter 14 (on p. xiv), the editor crossed out "David Watkins and" and wrote in "H.S. Asthana" next to his own name. Binding has light soil and minor wear; corners bumped; spine is slightly cocked; fore edge and inside front cover have small bit of minor soil; pages have small top-corner crease; dust jacket has wear and small chips at edges; someone used the front of the book to lean on when writing something, given the blind impressions of writing on the front panel of the dust jacket (one can see the impression of "DAW" at upper left, probably for "David A. Emphasis is given on the growth of pure and defects free crystals, since they are important in diamond electronics.In heteroepitaxy, first the role of negative biasing of the substrate is discussed in great detail then a two step process used to grow free standing diamond crystals approaching the quality of type IIa natural diamond is explained.In homoepitaxy, process to grow thick diamond crystals better than type IIa natural diamonds is described. Effects of growth parameters on different kind of defects are explained. A growth regime is found where diamond can be grown with no nitrogen -vacancy and other defects.
