Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. Solving the Problem of Evil for the Believer. Using the Belgic Confession of Faith and the Heidelberg Catechism the Author reminds believers that "God works all things for their good". Using Scripture, this thoroughly researched yet easy to read work will comfort the believer in times of trial and suffering. The believer who takes his eyes off this sorrowful world and places them toward their heavenly home is the one with a living hope and good confidence in their God. No more fitting words to end this dissertation are there then what Rev. Hoeksema wrote in consolation of believers struggling through persecution, He is then thankful in prosperity and patient in adversity. He has an explanation for the suffering of this present time, for he knows that all things must work for his good and must serve to the attainment of his eternal dwelling place. He has comfort even in death. He sings through his tears. He confesses that he is a stranger and a foreigner in the earth. Then he can die in faith. Looking to the promise. Glorious confession! Not a person goes through this sorrowful world without experiencing the afflictions of a fallen world. This devotional is for everyone who has tried to understand the evil in this world. A Month of Comfort will help the reader understand God's purpose and Sovereignty over affliction as He molds His own into the image of His Son, Jesus Christ. The Format is simple: Devotional writing from my Dissertation, the Scripture readings specifically pertaining to the day's topic, then a Prayer to pray from either a Reformer, a martyr of the Reformed faith, Book of Common Prayer or a contemporary reformer (such as Daniel R Hyde). Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. This series has been structured to give the every day, white-collared and blue-collared Christian a broader understanding of their God, their Bible and the great salvation that was accomplished through Jesus Christ. It is not an all encompassing study, but touches upon valuable points that are often overlooked in today's pulpits as well as in Bible Studies or Sunday School classes. Far from the "small group" dynamic that has become popular, this series seeks to deepen the believer's knowledge and understanding so that they are, as the Apostle Peter said, "be ready always to give an answer to every man who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you". The series will begin with a general introduction to Systematic Theology and other Theological Disciplines, to the Doctrine of God, the Bible and its Authority and Inspiration through to the Law and Salvation in the Old Testament. It is my sincere prayer that from this series, believers young and old will be able to connect the dots of doctrine that are found scattered throughout the Scriptures and formulate a concise and distinct theological outlook for their everyday lives. Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. Over the centuries theologians, philosophers, pastors and layman have wrestled with the theological "Gordian knot" of questions: If God is all-powerful (omnipotent) and all-loving (omni-benevolent) how can evil exist in the world? Well-meaning men and women have endeavored to answer this question and unravel its supposed philosophical and theological conundrum with consummate skill but mostly to no avail. What has come from these answers is essentially a partisan approach weighing the omnipotence of God against His being omnibenevolence. This has resulted in a reaction by the unregenerate person defiantly rejecting the God of the Scriptures because they see a large disparity in the responses. This dissertation will take up the challenge to unravel the "Gordian Knot" of the Problem of Evil by changing the perspective of the question from the human view to God's standpoint utilizing Scriptures texts which speak directly or "by good and necessary inference" deduced from the Word of God with regard to God's Providence over His Creation and even more so His People as taught in the Reformed Standards, Confessions and Catechisms. It is the goal of this student to demonstrate that the typical accusation against "Calvinists" and the "greater good defense" is in actuality a misnomer and a misunderstanding of the Reformed position. It is also the intent of this student to finally put to rest the debate upon this problem by offering the Biblical answer thereby "solving" the whole "problem". This student intends to broaden the discussion of theodicies so that the reader understands that the correct approach must be God's Glory Alone (Soli Deo Gloria). This will be explained through the doctrine of God's Absolute Sovereignty and His Providential rule and care over His creation, His Church and His children. This item is printed on demand.
