Replacing slanted handwriting with vertical writing has been a growing trend within education due to its simplicity, and greater readability and speed comparative to other forms of writing, such as cursive. The author explains how this method of instruction optimizes young learners' comprehension of letter forms to write better. This approach reduces the complexity of learning to write by presenting letter forms similar to printed letters, which makes the process more accessible and recognizable. By introducing these concepts early on, the author argues that teachers can help children bypass bad writing habits and develop their skills more effectively.
