The ability to use spoken or written language in order to express meaning is essential and enables people to cope with situations in which communication via language is indispensable. As a matter of fact, there are certain diseases that decrease an individual's ability to express him- or herself properly without decline of intelligence. In general, this phenomenon is called aphasia, which literally means without language; though the ability to speak remains in most cases. Aphasia is a disturbance in the established language system of a person due to brain injury. Some signals that might indicate that a patient is suffering from aphasia are for example: problems to build correct sentences in written and spoken language, usage of inappropriate words in certain situations, invention of neologisms, inability to recognize own mistakes (in some cases), or errors on phonological basis. According to the symptoms the individual patient shows, there are four major categories in which aphasia can be subdivided: global aphasia, amnesic aphasia, Broca's aphasia and Wernicke's aphasia. It is worth mentioning that other types of aphasia and mixtures of these four categories also exist. Especially, when practicing with aphasia patients, new problems may arise and shift the respective form of aphasia towards another. On the one hand, aphasia is a very interesting phenomenon. On the other hand, it is a severe impairment for patients, which makes it hard to cope with the challenges of daily life. Since aphasia is a very complex topic, this term paper will focus only on Wernicke's aphasia because it is distinct to the other types concerning the patients' awareness. A patient who suffers from Wernicke's aphasia is mostly unaware of the mistakes he or she makes. The only thing realized by the patient, is, that he or she is not performing very well. Through this, it becomes interesting to explore Wernicke's aphasia and at the same time difficult to find a treatment.This term paper commences by giving a detailed explanation of what Wernicke's aphasia is. Here, its effect on patients' language production and reception is described. In addition, a closer look at brain anatomy will be taken in order to understand the disease in detail. Finally, methods of treatment for aphasics will be introduced and explained. There are also a number of advices given, which help friends and family members to cope with the patient's impairment.

Each of the 22 stories is concerned with another character and his or her troublesome life in Winesburg. The book's prologue (The Book of the Grotesque) already suggests, what will be inevitably experienced by the reader throughout the cycle: the large majority of all characters introduced are somewhat distorted and psychologically deformed. In the community of Winesburg, most of these characters lead a life of loneliness and isolation, burdened with the inability to communicate their thoughts and desires. What turned these characters into grotesques is for instance unfulfilled dreams, being misunderstood by others, or the tension between the human drive for lust and morality. In most cases it is only through the character of George Willard - who can be perceived as the protagonist of the cycle - that the grotesques open up and allow for an insight into their trials and tribulations. George, who works for the local newspaper in Winesburg, seems to be the only trustworthy inhabitant to all the others, so that only he gets the chance of delving into meaningful conversation with the grotesques from time to time. He therefore functions as an intermediary in the whole cycle appearing regularly and interlinking the stories with each other. Apart from encounters with George Willard, deeper-going communication is a rarity in Winesburg since individual characters mostly spent their time alone being plagued by their restless souls.In Winesburg, Ohio, Anderson depicts an interesting perspective upon lives of individuals in an American Midwestern small town by prioritizing psychological insights into his characters and neglecting plot. In addition to this, plain writing and sharp language constitute Anderson's cycle, which makes it an early piece of modernist literature. The author manages to create and maintain a gloomy and dismal atmosphere of solitude and helplessness, which permeates the whole town of Winesburg throughout the cycle.

By writing creatively, using the right selection of words and good argumentation, a love letter can be more than just a declaration of love. They often relinquish a moment of mystery, excitement and surprise and many people keep them lifelong as their secret treasures. In fact, writing good love letters is a demanding task even for advanced students. It might take hours of practice, drafting and rewriting to create an emotional and inspirational love letter.This paper will be about teaching intermediate students in the English foreign language (EFL) classroom, how to write a love letter. It functions as a guide for teachers to help them structuring and planning their lessons on this topic. Furthermore, it provides adequate teaching methods and innovative ideas to effectively instruct students on their way to become successful love-letter writers.The paper will commence by introducing several pre-writing activities, which serve to prepare students before they get started with the major task. They were built to relieve the poor and segregated them from the rest of society.In the course of the 19th century public executions ceased to exist in England, prison reform was initiated, the importance of hygiene as a basic need was recognized, and the catalog of offences punished by death was significantly reduced.All of these reforms resulted from political endeavors of groups and individual people who fought for the realization of their political intentions over a long period of time. One of them was Charles Dickens. He was a political writer who engaged himself strongly in penal issues and the improvement of the social circumstances under which the poor suffered. He was an influential journalist and novelist whose writings aimed at catching the readers' attention on an emotional level. In his life, he developed a strong, but ambivalent standpoint on issues such as prison reform and capital punishment. It was not only due to common interest that crime and punishment were matters of great concern to Dickens. In fact, it was a very personal matter for him deriving from a traumatic childhood experience. At the age of twelve his father was sent to debtors prison and his family joined him shortly after. On top of that, Dickens's himself - still a child - had to work in a blacking warehouse in order to provide for his family. In his later life, he witnessed several executions, alterations in the administration of criminal law, prison acts and the introduction of the Metropolitan Police. These transitions contributed to the development of his critical standpoint concerning the cause of crime and the treatment of criminals.The story of Oliver Twist is Dickens's second and probably most renowned publication. It critically deals with the social grievances of the Victorian era such as poverty and juvenile crime and contains a satirical tone, subtly attacking the social system and those who exert power over others.

Das Angebot reicht von Assoziations- und Einstiegsspielen, Diskussions- und Entscheidungsspielen, Simulationsspielen, Interaktions- und Kooperationsspielen, sowie Wissensspielen, bis hin zu szenischen Spielformen und spielerischen Präsentations- und Produktionsformen. Nicht zuletzt ein zunehmendes Desinteresse unter Schülern und Schülerinnen an dem Unterrichtsfach Politik und Wirtschaft führte dazu, dass dem Fach neue Attraktivität durch spielerische Elemente verliehen wurde. Spiele im Politikunterricht verfolgen jedoch nicht ausschließlich das Ziel, dem Politikunterricht im Allgemeinen größere Popularität zu verschaffen. Vor allem ermöglichen sie es den Schüler und Schülerinnen auf ungezwungene und spannende Weise ihre politische Urteils- und Handlungsfähigkeit auszubauen und sich zu demokratischen, mündigen und selbstständigen Bürgern zu entwickeln. Es steht fest, dass es sich bei Spielen und Lernen nicht um Komponenten handelt, die sich gegenseitig ausschließen. Vielmehr ermöglicht eine Kombination hieraus, dass Schüler und Schülerinnen spielerisch ihre Sozialkompetenzen, politische Urteilsfähigkeit und Handlungsfähigkeit ausbauen, sowie ihre methodischen Kompetenzen erweitern. Von besonderer Bedeutung für die politische Bildung sind Diskussions- und Entscheidungsspiele. So lernen Schüler und Schülerinnen beispielsweise in einer Pro-Contra-Debatte, dass es für eine bestimmte politische Ja-Nein-Streitfrage keine einvernehmliche Lösung gibt, da der Gehalt in hohem Maße kontrovers ist. In einer solchen Debatte lernen die Schüler und Schülerinnen beispielsweise Argumente aufzubereiten, Gegenargumente zu entwickeln oder multiperspektivisch einen Sachverhalt zu durchleuchten und sich in die Rollen ihrer Kontrahenten hineinzuversetzen. Die Pro-Contra-Debatte ist für das Erreichen der Lernziele des Politikunterrichts von erheblicher Bedeutung. Spiele müssen jedoch nicht immer fest in der Erarbeitungsphase des Politikunterrichts verankert sein. Gerade zu Beginn einer neuen Unterrichtseinheit sind Assoziations- und Einstiegsspiele besonders wertvoll und sorgen für einen belebenden Unterrichtseinstieg. Sowohl die Genreweiterentwicklung, als auch die Genreüberschneidungen von Vampirroman, Science-Fiction und Apokalypse in I am Legend, stellten eine Innovation dar und sorgten für einen Aufwind für das Genre. Personen, wie beispielsweise der renommierte US- amerikanische Schriftsteller Stephen King, ließen sich von Richard Mathesons Werk I am Legend inspirieren. Desweiteren wurde Richard Mathesons Roman I am Legend als Vorlage für drei Verfilmungen verwendet. Die neueste Verfilmung von Regisseur Francis Lawrence trägt ebenfalls den Titel I am Legend und wurde im Jahr 2007 veröffentlicht. Die kostspielige und äußerst aufwändige Hollywood-Produktion lässt den US-amerikanischen Schauspieler Will Smith in die Hauptrolle schlüpfen. Vergleicht man Richard Mathesons Roman mit der Filmadaption von 2007, fällt auf, dass es eine Vielzahl an bewusst gewählten Veränderungen gibt. Von der Darstellung des Protagonisten, Robert Neville, über seine Weggefährten und Widersacher, bis hin zu der Kulisse und den Hintergrundgeschehnissen, sind Abweichungen zu verzeichnen, die in der vorliegenden Hausarbeit im Detail erörtert werden sollen.Zu Beginn wird ein Überblick über den Inhalt von I am Legend nach dem Roman von Richard Matheson gegeben. Hierbei werden die Abweichungen zu Francis Lawrences Verfilmung zunächst vernachlässigt. Im weiteren Verlauf werden die Unterschiede der Filmversion im Vergleich zum Roman bezüglich Setting, Geschehnisse, Charakterkonstellation etc. erörtert. Hierbei wird, soweit möglich, die Absicht des Autors beziehungsweise Regisseurs aufgezeigt. Zuletzt wird der Hauptcharakter - Robert Neville - in Mathesons Roman detailliert vorgestellt und anschließend mit Will Smiths Interpretation aus dem Film verglichen. Hierbei spielen insbesondere Charakterzüge und das Verhalten des Protagonisten eine große Rolle.

Tatsächlich gehört zum Erlernen einer Fremdsprache jedoch viel mehr, als lediglich das Beherrschen der Grammatik oder eines umfangreiches Vokabulars. Obgleich diese Aspekte für die flüssige und präzise Verständigung unumgänglich sind, genügt es nicht, sich die grammatische Struktur alleine anzueignen, d.h. Syntax, Lexis, etc. zu kennen, um eine Fremdsprache erfolgreich verinnerlichen zu können. Vielmehr spielt kulturelles Bewusstsein und Erfahrung bezüglich der Kultur(en) der entsprechenden Fremdsprache eine außerordentliche Rolle im Prozess des Sprachenlernens. Kulturelles Bewusstsein steht insbesondere dann im Vordergrund, wenn Etikette oder das Vermeiden von Missverständnissen in interkulturellen Gesprächs- situationen erfordert wird. Die interkulturelle kommunikative Kompetenz ist eine Schlüsselqualifikation der Schülerinnen und Schüler, die es ihnen ermöglichen soll, mit Muttersprachlern der entsprechenden Fremdsprache erfolgreich kommunizieren zu können. Die interkulturelle Komponente spielt in der Fremdsprachendidaktik inzwischen eine außerordentlich große Rolle - schließlich ist Befähigung zur Kommunikation in authentischen und realen Gesprächssituationen mit Hilfe der Fremdsprache das oberstes Ziel des Fremdsprachenlernens. Um diesem Ziel ein Stück näher zu kommen, das bedeutet, Platz zu schaffen für interkulturelle Erfahrungen und bedeutsame Kommunikation im und außerhalb des Klassenraums, bietet das interkulturelle Lernen viele Chancen um eine Fremdsprache erfolgreich zu erlernen, so dass auch nach Beendigung der Schullaufbahn weiterhin Motivation zum Fremdsprachenlernen bestehen bleibt - ganz im Sinne des lebenslangen Lernens. Neben den Vorteilen, die interkulturelles Lernen mit sich bringt, gibt es jedoch auch Gefahren, die im Unterricht umgangen werden müssen. Hierzu zählt unter anderem die Kulturalisierungsfalle.

Diese Entwicklung gipfelte erstmals in den ausländerfeindlichen Ausschreitungen von Hoyerswerda in den neuen Bundesländern 1991. Ein Jahr später schwappte die Welle auch nach Westdeutschland über und führte zu massiven Ausschreitungen in Rostock- Lichtenhagen. Die Zuspitzung der Lage führte dazu, dass bis dato bereits existierende pädagogische Projekte mit rechtsorientierten Jugendlichen weiter ausgebaut und gefördert wurden. Öffentlichen Anklang erfuhr die pädagogische Arbeit in Zusammenhang mit rechtsorientierten Jugendlichen jedoch erst nach den Ausschreitungen, nachdem das Ausmaß an Gewaltbereitschaft zu einem Aufschrei in der Gesellschaft geführt hatte.Es stellt sich die nun Frage, auf welcher Grundlage sich Rechtsextremismus entwickeln kann Die Klärung der Ursachen ist entscheidend, um die Ansatzpunkte der pädagogischen Jugendarbeit und politischen Bildung im Umgang mit rechtsorientierten jungen Menschen nachvollziehen zu können, denn die Betroffenen werden sich nur von ihren Ansichten entfernen, wenn sie eine bessere Alternative in Aussicht gestellt bekommen. Um einen Zugang zu den betroffenen Jugendlichen zu erhalten, wird das Konzept der akzeptierenden Jugendarbeit seit einigen Jahren zugrunde gelegt. Das Augenmerk der akzeptierenden Jugendarbeit liegt auf gegenseitiger Akzeptanz und dem verständnisvollen Umgang zwischen Pädagogen und rechtsorientierten Jugendlichen. Das Tätigkeitsfeld der Jugendarbeit ist von großer Bedeutung für die Prävention und Bekämpfung von Rechtsextremismus. Auch in der außerschulischen und schulischen politischen Bildung existiert ein facettenreiches Angebot, aus welchem im weiteren Verlauf einige Elemente aufgegriffen und vorgestellt werden. Hier gibt es einige Interessante Programme und Möglichkeiten, die Chancen aufzeigen, rechtsorientierte Jugendliche zu Toleranz, Empathie und demokratischem Handeln zu befähigen.

Diese fand ein Jahr später mit dem Zusammenbruch der New Yorker Investmentbank Lehman Brothers ihren katastrophalen Höhepunkt. Hintergrund für die brisanten, auch gegenwärtig noch hochaktuellen Geschehnisse, stellt die gewaltige Aufblähung der weltweiten Finanzmärkte durch ein Übermaß an Spekulationen mit enormen Geldsummen dar. Zur Rettung von Banken, die sich zunehmend an spekulativen Geschäften beteiligten, wurden staatlich finanzierte Rettungspakete (bailouts) in Milliardenhöhe geschnürt, die den vollständigen Zusammenbruch der Banken und somit der Wirtschaft verhindern sollten. Die Konsequenzen in Form von enormer Neuverschuldung und der Bankrotterklärung einiger Staaten, wie beispielsweise Griechenland oder Portugal, ließen nicht lange auf sich warten. Die Entwicklungen der letzten Jahrzehnte hin zu einer marktliberalen und deregulierten Wirtschaftsordnung mit geöffneten Märkten, wurde durch politische Entscheidungsinstanzen weltweit gefördert und angepriesen. Neben der oftmals vertretenen Meinung, eine neoliberale Wirtschaftsordnung käme allen zu Gute, wurde diese oft als alternativlos aufgezeigt, um diese legitimieren zu können. Inzwischen nehmen immer mehr Menschen Abschied von der Forderung einer neoliberalen Marktordnung. Eine demokratische Neuorientierung der Wirtschafts- und Sozialpolitik findet verbreitet Anklang und wird von der Bevölkerung mit zunehmender Nachdrücklichkeit gefordert.
