Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Document from the year 2022 in the subject Medicine - Dentistry, grade: 1, , course: Masters of Dental Surgery in Oral Medicine and Radiology, language: English, abstract: Cone-beam CT is almost certainly going to revolutionize dental radiology and impact on almost all aspects of dental practice. CBCT is an emerging technical advancement in CT imaging that uses cone beam acquisition geometry to provide relatively low-dose imaging with high isotropic spatial resolution acquired with a single gantry revolution. Efficient use of the x-ray beam in CBCT imaging produces a relatively low x-ray tube power requirement, which, along with flat panel detection and limited anatomic coverage, has facilitated the production of compact CBCT scanners suitable for use in an office-based setting. The development and rapid commercialization of CBCT technology dedicated for use in the maxillofacial region will undoubtedly increase both general and specialist practitioner access to this imaging modality. CBCT is capable of providing accurate, sub-millimetre resolution images in formats enabling 3D visualization of the complexity of the maxillofacial region. Increasing availability of this technology provides the practitioner with a modality that is extending maxillofacial imaging from diagnosis to image guidance of operative and surgical procedures.…

Oral health means much more than healthy teeth, and the relationship between oral and general health has been shown. The majority of pain and discomfort in the oral cavity is due to diseases of the mouth. However, there are situations where oral symptoms are a consequence of systemic diseases or systemic alterations in physiological conditions. Oral discomfort is found in many menopausal women. The principal peri- and postmenopausal oral symptoms are a dry mouth, sensation of painful mouth of several causes, and less frequently burning mouth syndrome. Unpleasant symptoms connected to menopause are treated with hormone replacement therapy (HRT). HRT is widely used to relieve those symptoms in order to increase the well-being of the women treated. Profile studies on HRT users have indicated that these women are more health-conscious than non-users. Therefore, the hypothesis of the present study was based on the idea that women who had chosen to take HRT in the first place were those who also had better oral health and health habits in general. …
