With annotations in manuscript pencil throughout. An aging widower arranges a marriage for his only daughter. Screenwriter Yasujiro Ozu's farewell to his mother, whom he had cared for for his entire life, with the title drawn from a poem he wrote upon returning from her funeral. Ozu became ill shortly thereafter and die at aged 60 in 1963 from cancer. Yellow titled wrappers. Title page present. 73 leaves, with last page of text numbered 120. Mechanical duplication. The leader of a traveling theatre troupe goes to visit his former mistress and their son, who is unaware that the man is his father. Meanwhile, the man's current lover, jealous of his attentions to his former mistress, schemes to shame him by convincing a young actress in the troupe to seduce his son.
