C C Ogilvy van Lennep (1869-1959) was a member of the Dutch merchant and tobacco farming Van Lennep family who had been in the Smyrna (Izmir) area of Turkey since the 1730s. He spent much of his life in England (and his mother's homeland of Scotland). His uncle Henry John van Lennep was an evangelical missionary in Turkey.
