When Dan, the body-servant to the son of the master, is whipped unjustly, he determines that he will no longer live under slavery -and his motto becomes "watch and wait" for a chance to flee - along with his two closest friends. Illustrated with a frontispiece and two glossy internal plates. 276 pp plus 10 pp publisher's ads. Very good in illustrated green boards (previous owner's name dated 1906).
