One large silver gelatin photograph sized 10.25 x 13.5 in. mounted on gray studio board, 17 x 13.75 in., w/ embossed photographer's stamp in lower right corner of the board in white (some scuffing & wear to corners, fore-edges, couple very minor scuffs to the image), still a VG- image w/ bright strong contrast. A very scarce original souvenir intending to promote the Pacific Northwest for the Lewis & Clark Centennial Exposition, marking the anniversary of the famed exploration across the North American continent after the Louisiana Purchase. The Kiser Brothers, Fred Kiser (1878-1955) and Oscar Kiser (1883-1905) began shooting photos as a hobby, but very quickly became successful commercial photographers, and one of the best artistic photographers in the country during the first three decades of the 20th century. They sold their images as prints, photo albums, stereoviews, postcards, glass lantern slides, and even later hand-coloured many of them and sold them to tourists and collectors as framed, or unframed art prints.

Mappa
Very good. Light wear along original fold lines. Verso repairs to two fold separations. Text on verso. Size 9.25 x 13.25 Inches. This is a 1905 Union Printing Company map of the Lewis and Clark Centennial Exposition in Portland, Oregon. The fair was a major commercial and cultural success, credited with a 100K boost in Portland's population in the five years following. A Closer Look Depicting the entire fairgrounds, including the artificial island built in Guild's Lake, exposition buildings are highlighted in bright yellow and labeled. Among the identified buildings are the U.S. Government Building, the Aeronautic Concourse, and the fisheries and irrigation halls. Many foreign pavilions line 'The Trail', which connects to the 'Bridge of Nations' across Guld's Lake. An index of 110 locations appears outside the right border and lists all the buildings and other attractions that may interest a visitor. A stamp in the lower right quadrant marks the Hotel Fairmount, which distributed the present example of this map. The Hotel Fairmount was built for the exposition across from the fair's main gate and still stands in Portland. It is now on the National Register of Historic Places. The Lewis and Clark Exposition The Lewis and Clark Centennial Exposition (its official name was the Lewis and Clark Centennial and American Pacific Exposition and Oriental Fair) took place from June 1 - October 15, 1905, in Portland, Oregon. Olmsted Brothers designed the fairgrounds on an artificial island on Guild Lake. Temporary buildings were constructed and lit with over 100,000 light bulbs. Twenty-one nations and 16 U.S. states built exhibits, along with the Smithsonian Institution and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. 1.6 million people visited the fair, a daily average of 11,600. The fair was also profitable, making a gross profit of nearly $85,000. Portland also experienced a population boom in the wake of the air, with the city's population growing from 161,000 to 270,000 between 1905 and 1910. Publication History and Census This map was published by the Union Printing Company and distributed by the Hotel Fairmount in 1905. We note two cataloged examples: the University of Washington and the University of Oregon. No record on the private market. References: OCLC 641677003.

Hardcover. Condizione: New. Mexican Mustang Liniment. Oregon) (illustratore). Print on Demand. Print on Demand from publisher. Hardcover. 272pp. Drawings. Bibliography. Index. This book is written by two sociologists who agree with mainstream science that there is no such thing as a Bigfoot. However, there are multitudes of "Bigfooters," people who think there are and do research, or are at least very interested. This book is, therefore, the authors' study of, not Bigfoot or Sasquatch, but Bigfoot hunters and gatherers. However, even though the authors don't have the foggiest idea of in-the-field research and have never seen even a footprint (living and being professors in England is a sort of puts them at a disadvantage), their book is actually extremely well-researched and carefully written as they describe and sociologically analyze the methods and mindsets and constructs of serious sasquatch researchers. They interviewed 166 individuals to write this book and they take a considerably detailed and serious "lookback" of the old famous researchers like Dahinden, Green, Krantz, and Byrne. If you believe sasquatch exists, you may not want to read a book that is tinctured with skepticism, but this is one that you really have to read. It, pardon the pun, should leave a big footprint on modern sasquatch research. It's a scholarly book that one can actually read without a college degree, but you will learn some new terms if you are not a sociologist. Like new. Fine condition. An expensive book as its issued from a high-profile publisher.
