Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. No Dust Jacket. This old book is clean, solid and in great shape! This is a thick hardcover book with 312 pages including many beautiful tipped in color plates. There is also a fold-out map in the back on the book. The binding is strong with all pages firmly attached. The pages are clean with no soiling, writing, or tears. The title page shows 1911 as the published date. This is definitely Not a former library book. The pale blue covers have grape and vine illustrations with bright gold lettering. Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. POMPEII BY W.M. MACKENZIE PAINTED BY ALBERTO PISA 1910 1ST 20 COLOR PLATES. Here is another of the well-illustrated travel books by Adam & Charles Black of London and supposedly a bit scarce in the book trade (which would not surprise as Pompeii has always been one of the special destinations for travelers to Italy). Please find: Pompeii painted by Alberto Pisa and described by W. M. MacKenzie. This medium-sized hard cover book (6 ¾ x 8 ¾ x 1 ¾ inches, 180 pages plus 25 unnumbered plates and a fold-out sketch map of the excavations) is bound in finely ribbed, sky blue boards with gilt titles and decorations on cover and spine. The 20 full-page, color plates are protected by captioned tissue-guards. Condition: This book is in very good condition. There are some bruises to the leading edge of the front cover and a few very light blemishes to the finish of the boards front and back. The front board seems to be a bit sprung to me. Inside the former owners have left their neat book plate and there is some light foxing on the early pages and the rear endpaper (acid of the binding glues). The interior pages are bright and clean without toning or foxing. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.…
