Copia autografata
Limited to an edition of five hundred copies (as stated upon half-title verso, i.e. page 2). [2], 5-136 pages. Hardcover: H 31.75cm x L 23.25cm. No dust jacket (i.e. lacking) other than clipped/trimmed text portion presumably from rear panel which is now affixed to front free endpaper. Dark green cloth spine with paper title/author label; light green paper boards mildly soiled with some wear at fore-edge corners. Front pastedown has personal sextant-themed bookplate of St. Louis physician, naval historian, and author E. Lee Dorsett (Edward Lee Dorsett, 1883-1967) which is overlaid upon another Dorsett bookplate. Book is supposed to have a signed etching as a frontispiece (pages 3-4) along with tissue guard sheet but both have been removed. The book's original pencil signed lithograph titled "Desdemona, New Bedford" is present as called for as page 124. Binding does have a few stress points but all still firm. Laid-in between pages 40-41 is small brochure "Eight New Etchings by George C. Wales On Exhibition and Sale November 18 to November 30 at Goodspeed's 7 Ashburton Place Boston" which folds out to four panels per side (i.e. eight total) with illustrations of eight George Wale etchings and their sale prices; one panel has handwritten ink price notation; undated as to year but presumably fairly contemporary to book. {Approximate shipping weight = 3 pounds.}.
