Bedeutende Arbeit zum Thema. - Für Planitz (1882-1954) bildeten Studien zur Rechts- und Wirtschaftsgeschichte Kölns im Rahmen seiner St…udien zum deutschen Städtewesen einen Schwerpunkt seines wissenschaftlichen Schaffens, zumal während seines Kölner Lehrstuhls 1920-1941. Er ging dann an die Universität Wien, nachdem er Rufe nach Bonn (1922), Heidelberg (1923) und zunächst auch Wien (1934) abgelehnt hatte. Vor der Kölner Zeit war er Professor in Leipzig (1912), Basel (1913/1914) und Frankfurt am Main (1914-1920). - Thea Buyken (1906-1993) wurde vor allem bekannt für ihre grundlegende Erforschung der Konstitutionen von Melfi Friedrichs II. von Hohenstaufen. Nach ihrer Promotion an der Universität Bonn im Jahre 1931 arbeitete sie mit Hans Planitz in Köln, den sie später als ihren wichtigsten akademischen Lehrer benannte.
