Uferzonen sind Privathäusern und Hotels zugeordnet, werden von Durchgangsstraßen tangiert oder sind unzugänglich und nur vom See aus erreichbar. PLATEAU BLO fügt zu den begehrten Grundstücken am Traunsee eine neue Plattform für Austausch hinzu: PLATEAU BLO erweitert Landschaft und Kulisse um Gedanken, Raum und Fläche. Es ist vom Ufer aus gut sichtbar und doch nicht ganz leicht zu erreichen. Ein Ort des Begehrens entsteht, der deutlich von den üblichen Tourismusattraktionen abweicht. PLATEAU BLO bringt Körper und Geist ins Wanken, erzeugt einen leichten Schwindel, regt zum Nachdenken an und bringt Themen zum Schwitzen. Anstelle starrer See-Bilder entsteht ein lebendes Bild, ein schwimmendes Tableau vivant. Das Projekt startete 2022 an der Kunstuni Linz. Ab Herbst 2023 adaptierten Studierende und Lehrende ein leerstehendes Gebäude in Gmunden, lebten und arbeiteten dort für mehrere Monate. Sie bauten Plattformen und Raummodule, experimentierten mit Materialien und Konstruktionen und aktivierten zugleich zuvor noch leerstehende Orte. Eine offene Werkstatt für experimentelle Baukultur, ein Treffpunkt für Gastkünstler\*innen und Workshops rund um gesellschaftliche Fragen wie Kunst mit Räumen interagiert. PLATEAU BLO ist ein Statement gegen exklusives Besitzdenken, eine dynamische Position für offenes Denken, ein fluider Ort für neue Perspektiven auf See, Landschaft und Architektur. AVANTGARD/EN ist das Artist-in-Residence Programm des Kulturhauptstadt-Projektes PLATEAU BLO der Kunstuniversität Linz. In Zusammenarbeit mit den Ordensgemeinschaften Österreichs und der Diözese Linz ist die Öffnung des Karmelitinnen-Klostergartens in Gmunden nach fast zwei Jahrhunderten zweifellos ein Ereignis. Gärten sind oft intime Orte, welche nicht von der Öffentlichkeit eingesehen werden können.
