Lachmann, Karl (1793 Braunschweig - 1851 Berlin) deutscher Sprachforscher, Mediävist, Altphilologe. 1809 Studium in Leipzig, 1815 Habilitation in Göttingen, Militärdienst in Duderstadt, 1816 Collaborator am Friedrichswerderschen Gymnasium zu Berlin und Privatdozent an der dortigen Universität , danach nahm er die Stelle eines Oberlehrers am Friedrichs-Kollegium zu Königsberg und 1818 eine außerordentliche Professur an der dortigen Universität an. Er wurde 1825 außerordentlicher, 1827 ordentlicher Professor für lateinische und deutsche Philologie in Berlin und 1830 Mitglied der Preußischen Akademie der Wissenschaften; Freundschaft mit den Gebrüdern Grimm.
