Bootstrap confidence interval thus has double potential advantages over most statistical technique-due to the fact that, it is confidence interval and due to the fact that it is based on bootstrap method. There are several methods of bootstrap confidence interval: the standard method, bootstrap-t, the percentile, the Bias Corrected and Accelerated (BCa) and the approximate bootstrap confidence interval. Among the methods, the BCa method gives us better result with respect to the properties- length, shape and symmetry. ABC method also gives good result in some cases. The bootstrap-t and percentile methods have the identical and close result. The shape of percentile method, in most cases, is good but its forced symmetry makes it poor.In hypothesis testing, bootstrap approach performs better than the classical approach in terms of power. 160 pp. Englisch.

The progress Bangladesh has made in the reduction of child mortality from infectious d…iseases has revealed that accidents and injuries are now a major concern for child survival. Reducing injury mortality has been highlighted as a strategic intervention for Bangladesh to achieve the fourth millennium development goal (MDG) to reduce the under-5 mortality rate to 51 per 1,000 live births by 2015. In this study an attempt has been made to identify the different factors associated with child injury occurrence in Bangladesh. The children are defined in this study as infants and children of all ages, up to their 18th birthday (0-17 years old). This study employs mainly statistical methods to identify the factors affecting child injury in Bangladesh using some sophisticated techniques so that policy makers can make the recommendations for the policy implementation to reduce child injuries and identify the ways of controlling injuries and prescribe better injury prevention strategy. 180 pp. Englisch.
