Outsider art is said to exist only because of cultural elitism and class differences where the margins are defined by the centre. Their marginalised social status, often due to mental health issues, has led to their exclusion from the world of contemporary art. AUTHOR: Linda Ranaldi has been exploring outsider art for many years, both academically and personally, while working as a writer and editor in the legal field. She has published articles in various outsider art journals.
