Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Fine. Contents: 1. The 'Passionate Patriot'. 2. In a 'Different Boat'. 3. Between two escapes and after. 4. The Indian National Army. 5. Heir to a life immortal. 6. Chronology. 7. Bibliography. "He had one dream, one passion, and one sole purpose in life -- India's freedom. Qualifying for the prestigious Indian Civil Service for which young men hankered, he refused the ICS as an 'emblem of servitude'. Selfless, he dedicated his life to his country, undertaking untold hardships and daring to do things that can only be described as daunting. 'India, our motherland', was for him 'God's beloved land', at whose alter he finally laid down his life. Destiny's child, his fiery revolutionary ideas made him a controversial man among his party men and isolated him from the icons of the Indian freedom movement -- Gandhi and Nehru. Of all Congressmen of his time, he was more frequently jailed, branded by the British Government as the most dangerous man. After his last and eleventh imprisonment, he escaped to Germany and then to the far east from where he led, with Japanese help, his Indian National Army across the borders of Eastern India. 'Chalo Dilli' was his battle cry. But fate decided otherwise. As the British advanced to the east, the Japanese army and the INA retreated. It is believed, he died in a plane crash in Taiwan." (jacket).
