Shining gold embossing on the covers and spine, tightly bound, with clean pages throughout. Front cover and lower spine are a little loose and there is a slight forward tilt; protected in mylar.Edges are time worn. Etchings throughout are clear and bold, unfaded, with protective rice paper covers intact. Front endpaper has previous owner's name inscribed, dated 1868.

This is a medium brown hardcover with gold lettering and elaborate black design on front cover and spine, published in 1881 by JC McCurdy, 1882 printing, 685pp, full-page color and b&w lithographs. Heavy wear at top inch of front hinge with small bit of cover missing, fraying at top and bottom of spine, cover worn through at tips of corners; front endpaper split at hinge, approx. 1/2" dampstain on outer and lower edges of front endpaper and a few pages.
