The offering includes Vol. 2, No. 4 of the Monthly Bulletin of the Religious Research Foundation, April 1954. Printed on rectos only and stapled. The lead article is on the danger of hydrogen bombs and the last page bears a review for the book "Religion and the New Psychology" by Alison J. Smith. The second article is a list of the Summer classes offered by the Foundation. Next is a handout sheet giving descriptions of the classes to be taught (Methods of Psychical Research: Introduction to Para-Physics; Developing Prayer Power, etc.). A mailed (stamp still present) application form to join the Foundation send to a Albert Mogul in Hollywood ("For the First Time -- A Competent Comprehensive Program for Scientific Research in Religion!"). Finally there is a 4-page list of the Religious Research Foundation's Lending Library (rectos only; an unusual list with Karl Barth, Havelock Ellis, Norman Vincent Peale and Antoine de Saint-Exupery).Another facet of the New Age Movement was the desire to wed Science and Religion. Its founder, Frankln Loehr, started his career as a Presbyterian minister. He held advanced degrees in theology and psychology and sometime in the late 40s or early 50s he broke with organized religion as he felt that his calling was to scientifically demonstrate the truth of what many considered unbelievable-and that included prayer, psychic phenomena, and reincarnation, among others. Indeed his motto was ?Adding facts to faith.? In the late 50s, Loehr published the groups most famous work "The Power of Prayer on Plants" (1959). The group was active until the death of Franklin Loehr in the 1980.
