This was printed for distribution among the troops: possibly the troops did not much relish the tract, and so discarded it. In h…is peroration, the Rev. Hough tells the troops how fortunate they are - 'You are better off than the great bodies of men engaged in manufacturing or in agricultural employments; better off, perhaps, than two-thirds of the whole English population; and incomparably better paid, better fed, better clothed, better lodged, and more humanely and beneficially treated, than any other Military Service of Europe. Act in all things from a sense of gratitude and duty.' (Medelssohn pp.737-38).
