Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Very Good. No Jacket. Second Impression. 149pp. 1914. Second impression. 12mo. sized. 24 illustrations by T. Baines all as called for including a tissue-guarded frontispiece. The front board with a charming design stamped in blue, white and gilt in the manor of a design by Estella Canziani but probably also the work of T.Baines (some of his other illustrations also remind me of Canziani) An ink name to the front endpaper and a later gift inscription in blue biro. This copy has a fascinating provenance. The half-title page has an inscription: 'To Assheton from his loving grandfather M O. Maunsell.' To this has been added more information in a later hand in biro about who these two characters were. Assheton (Assheton Clare Bowyer-Lane Maunsell) was the only grandson of Charles Stewart Parnell the Irish Nationalist who died in India in 1934 so this book may well have spent time in India too. Maunsell appears to be Assheton's paternal grandfather. A later John V. F. Maunsell's inscription is in ink at the head of the front endpaper.
