On the one hand, this booklet, by a rug importer, is long on romance, as is true of many other books from this period; on the other hand the author has some first hand experience in the Orient, there is a fair amoung of useful information, the pictures illustrate rugs available at the time, there is a charming photo of a rug being sold in Istanbul with everyone and his cousin and brother and uncle in the picture, other pictures of scenery, and there are 2 pages of tables of rug types. There are other versions of this book. It was published by H. B. Claflin Co, who then sold it to other rug dealers who then published it with their name. We know of 4 other dealers who used it and there are no doubt more. Book.
