Hardcover. Condizione: VG-. See photos for condition details. Tall hardcover, original binding of beveled green cloth boards with gilt on front and spine. The exterior shows some scuffing spotting along with edge and corner bumps/wear. There's a small chip on the bottom edge of the front board and the rear board shows soiling along the bottom third section. The internal binding is overall good except for a few spots. The text pages are tight but there is some pulling at the front hinge and there is a closed tear at the gutter of the title page, where it looks like glue from the original binding caused the edge of the page to stick to the frontis. There are no signatures or bookplates, no library markings etc. The only evidence of handwriting is on the front end page where a price was written in the top center and then later erased. Pages are toned due to age and there is some scattered smudge marks and foxing present. Please note: this is volume 1 ONLY.

Plates are high quality and on heavy stock. The covers are soiled with a cloth repair to the spine.The first plate, #36 has modest finger soil to the margins, plates 33 and 34 have pulled loose from the staple binding with 34 having some curling and small tears at the outer margin. Plates are bound with 36 first then in sequence to 35. Apparently quite a scarce book.
