A Foreword locates the reader in Tahiti, individual townships and the surrounding islands, and describes some aspects of the Tahitians' life. The writer laments the incursions of western 'civilisation'. Assumed first edition. Not numbered: 16 page foreword and 48 pictures, so about 64 pages. The greeny-blue cloth-covered covers are stained and the spine faded; the material is worn in places and there is a split on the spine. End papers have a felt tip name in green and some erasures; there is a little foxing at the back. The binding is h.
