Twice runner-up for the Newbery Medal, Mabel Louise Robinson was a well regarded writer for, mainly, young adult girls. Many of her novels, like this one, are set in Maine where she lived. This Junior Literary Guild edition would have been published very shortly after the trade edition. There are chapter headings by Lynd Ward. There is a small stain on rear endpapers, and a name on front endpaper, otherwise a very good copy indeed in a good plus dust jacket that's a bit ragged with wear to edges and folds, deep chipping, and a taped repair to lower corner of front panel.
