As the shutter clicks, photographers decide which moments linger and which collapse into nothingness. But disORDER is not simply about documenting or organizing a world out of order. It is an exploration of the many ways people choose to see, interpret, or capture a moment. The series examines not only what creatives look at, but how they look, and the emotional kick those images can have. disORDER focuses on the visual impact of images through the spirit of are, bure, boke-'grainy, blurry, out-of-focus.' The aesthetic was pioneered by members of the Japanese Provoke movement in the late 1960s as both a rejection of rigid photographic conventions and a response to the political and social unrest of their time. Their work challenged the idea that photography needed to be technically perfect in order to be truthful. In the context of this book, are, bure, boke expands beyond style alone. It is a spectrum of approaches: artistic instinct, emotional distortion, raw documentation, experimentation, and resistance against the modern obsession with technical perfection. disORDER arrives at a time when camera technology increasingly pushes photographers toward faster speeds, sharper focus, and extreme resolution. Yet human experience itself is rarely so precise. We all see differently. We remember differently. We feel differently. This collection embraces images that disrupt visual expectation. Some photographs are grainy, blurred, fractured, or all three. Others appear unexpectedly clean or sharply in focus-almost out of place amongst the surrounding work. Together, they question what the concept of photographic 'norm' even is. The photographers included in this volume each lend their vision to shape the medium and challenge the boundaries of how a moment can be represented.

In this regard, the'Gutenberg galaxy' provides an unrivalled example of how scholars, publishers, authors and readers reacted to failure: they increasingly aimed at impeccability in both style and content, developed timeand money-efficient ways to cope with mistakes, and ultimately came to link formal accuracy with authoritative and reliable information. Most of these features shaped the publishing industry until the present day, in spite of mounting issues related to false news and approximation in the digital age.Early modern misprinting, however, has so far received only passing mentions in scholarship and has never been treated together with proofreading in a complementary fashion.Correction benefited from a somewhat higher degree of attention, though check procedures in print shops have often been idealised as smooth and consistent. Furthermore, the emphasis has fallen on thepeople involved and their intervention in the linguistic and stylistic domains, rather than on their methodologies for dealing with typographical and textual mistakes.This book seeks to fill this gap in literature, providing the first comprehensive and interdisciplinary guide into the complex relationship between textual production in print, technical and human faults and more or less successful attempts at emendation. The 24 carefully selected contributors present newevidence on what we can learn from misprints in relation to publishers' practices, printing and pre-publication procedures, and editorial strategies between 1450 and 1650. They focus on texts, images andthe layout of incunabula, sixteenth- and early seventeenth-century books issued throughout Europe, stretching from the output of humanist printers to wide-ranging vernacular publications.
