From the Ted Scott Flying Stories series, created for young adults during the era of Lindbergh, Byrd and other 'heroes of the skies'. The author, Franklin W Dixon, is better known for 'The Hardy Boys' series, but Dixon was a 'house name' of the Stratemeyer Syndicate, in this case masking John William Duffield as actual author. ("Preserve this wrapper" notice prominently printed on both jacket flaps. Reverse side of wrapper contains a valuable long list of Grosset & Dunlap publications for boys and girls.) First edition (this title is at the end of the list of titles on the front jacket flap).

The Ted Scott Flying Stories was a series of juvenile aviation adventures created by the Stratemeyer Syndicate using the pseudonym of Franklin W. Dixon (also used for The Hardy Boys) and published almost exclusively by Grosset & Dunlap. The novels were produced between 1927 and 1943. The principal author was John W. Duffield, who also contributed to the Don Sturdy and Bomba the Jungle Boy series. Per AAC Boys Series Books by Axe, pg 53,54 and Mattson 56900. A superb wartime First Edition that looks great in the original DJ. LOC SSS-12.
