La técnica induce el cierre prematuro de la sínfisis pélvica, originando una rotación lateral de ambos acetábulos que incrementa la superficie de contacto entre la cabeza femoral y la superficie articular acetabular, lo que se traduce en una disminución en el grado de laxitud articular. La S.P.J se ha aplicado experimentalmente en cobayos, perros galgos normales y perros mestizos con laxitud. Debido a lo reciente y novedoso del procedimiento, se ha publicado poco sobre esta técnica, siendo escaso el conocimiento sobre el comportamiento clínico de los pacientes. Hasta donde se ha podido consultar, en nuestro país no se ha publicado ninguna experiencia sobre esta técnica quirúrgica. Hasta donde se ha podido consultar, en nuestro país no se ha publicado ninguna experiencia sobre esta técnica quirúrgica. El objetivo general de este trabajo consistió en evaluar los cambios angulares acetabulares inducidos por la S.P.J en cachorros caninos.
