A Children's History Of European Exploration In The Western Hemisphere In The Sixteenth And Seventeenth Centuries. Although The Title Refers To A Finding Of America, Which Is A Concept That Would Have Been Of The Greatest Surprise To The Inhabitants Who Were Found, The Book Is Otherwise Remarkable For Its Great Evenness Of Discussion Of Explorers And The Natives, A Children's Basic History Which I Think Would Still Be Largely Politically Correct Today And Which Is A Credit To, And Perhaps A Remarkable Change In, American Children's Historical Book Style, Which At Least Until This Time Was Generally Imperialist And Militaristic. The Book Is Very Worn, Spine Panel Completely Worn Through Along Front Spine Edge, Front Hinge Cracked Through, But Binding Remains Intact. Black Lettering On Front Board Partly Rubbed Away But Still Readable. Cloth Frayed At Edges. Excellent Provenance, Directly From Shrader's House In La Canada- Flintridge, Ca. Inscribed by Author(s).
