Les docteurs Jules Rouget (1864-1936) et Charles Dopter (1873-1950) abordent tous les menus détails de la vie matérielle des soldats au sein de l'armée : l'alimentation, l'habillement, les exercices physiques, les soins corporels, l'habitation (les casernes, les chambres, etc.) et les hôpitaux militaires. 69 figures dans le texte représentent des plans ou reproductions photographiques de divers locaux, et des schémas de différentes machines (stérilisateur, incinérateur, etc.) Petit manque en bas du dos et coins cornés, pages un peu jaunies.
