Baptiste de la Ruë (1696 - 1743) obtient une place d'architecte seconde classe au sein de l'académie Royale d'ARchitecture le 29 Novembre 1728 suite à la publication de son ouvrage sur la coupe des pierres. Celui ci marque un progrès sur ceux de ses prédécesseurs, Mathurin Jousse, Gir…ard Desargues, Abraham Bosse et le père Derand. Pour la première fois, les voussoirs y sont donnés en représentation perspective et ombrée, aussi bien qu en représentation descriptive, avec des retombes dépliantes. L ouvrage fut réédité en 1764 et 1858 puis en 1977 (J.-M. Pérouse de Montclos, L Architecture à la française, Paris,1982). In folio pleine basanne mouchetée de l'époque. Frontiscpice marqué 1738 par Bertin, gravé par Thomassin, Page de titre, marquée 1728, Préface, Öij, 185 pages. Bien complet des 67 planches la plupart dépliantes, dont les planches 1,2,5,8,11,12,15,18,21,26,27,37,38,39,43,48,49,50, 51, 52, 53, 54, 56, 59, 60, 65, 67 sont imprimées deux fois pour une meilleur concordance au texte. Suivi du Traité de Stéréotomie , numéroté en continu avec 6 planches numérotées A - F. Dos à 6 nerfs, ornés de caissons à double liserés dorés, encadrant une tulipe et des oeillets dorés en écoinçons. Basanne épidermée avec traces d'usure. Dos et charnières épidermés. Coins déformés avec manques. petite trace de mouillure sur la planche67 marginale. Bel exemplaire de cet ouvrage rare et incontournable dans le doamine de la taille des pierres et de l'architecture monumentale.

Plein veau marbré, dos à 5 ner…fs orné de caisson et fleurons dorés, plats encadrés d'un double filet à froid, reste d'un double filet doré sur les champs. Des frottements d'usage et des taches de liquide sur la reliure, de petits manques de cuir épars, une épidermure restaurée sur le second plat, coiffes arasées laissant apparaître la tranchefile, mors du premier plat fendu en deux endroits mais structure solide si manipulée avec soin, coins émoussés. Une planche collée dans le prolongement d'une page de texte, large manque de papier au milieu d'une planche et dans le texte de la page suivante, une déchirure sans manque sur le bas d'une autre page, de rares rousseurs et quelques pages légèrement roussies.
