In der McCarthy-Ära wurde er wegen seiner politischen Ansichten verfolgt. Er blieb daraufhin in England, wo er mit positiver Resonanz mehrere kontroverse Theaterstücke auf die Bühne brachte. Ab 1960 machte er auch wieder Theater in Amerika, 1973 eröffnete er das Sydney Opera House mit einer Bühnenfassung von Tolstois Krieg und Frieden. Blue Plaque zur Erinnerung an Sam Wanamaker an der Außenseite des Globe Theaters in London Weltruhm erlangte Wanamaker als Initiator für den Wiederaufbau des Globe Theaters in London, wozu er 1971 die Shakespeare Globe Stiftung ins Leben rief. Die Vollendung seines Lebenswerkes, die Fertigstellung des Globe, erlebte er nicht mehr. Er starb 1993, vier Jahre vor der Wiedereröffnung 1997, an Krebs. Das am 9. Januar 2014 eröffnete, an das Globe angebaute und überdachte Theater trägt zum Andenken an ihn den Namen Sam Wanamaker Playhouse. Er ist der Vater der Schauspielerin Zoë Wanamaker. Script incomplete, ending on page 114. Not to be confused with the 1948 film noir, directed by Anthony Mann, and starring Dennis O'Keefe. Arnold Schwarzenegger stars as a small town sheriff and ex-FBI agent, who is recruited by Darren McGavin, an aging FBI Chief, whose son was killed by a mob boss, to infiltrate the mob and exact vengence. Shot on location in Chicago, Illinois, Gallatin, Tennessee, and North Carolina. Front wrapper integral with first memorandum, dated November 3, 1985. Revised Draft script for the 1971 Euro-Western (aka "Euro Western") film, a US-UK co-production shot in Spain. Notations throughout in manuscript pencil. Euro-Westerns were made quickly and on tight budgets, and scripts for them are rare. Based on L'Amour's 1963 novel. Catlow (Brynner) is a renegade outlaw determined to pull off a gold heist, after having served in the Civil War, where he met Ben (Crenna), a marshal tracking him down. The journey leads to Mexico, where Catlow may just change his ways. Shot on location in Spain. Blue titled wrappers, rubber-stamped copy No. 11, dated in ink 3/25/71.
